LA-01: Harlan is an "Independent Man"

Folks who are writing off the 1st CD of Louisiana as an easy win for Steve Scalise (R) should take another look at Jim Harlan's campaign.

First, while Scalise owes some $192,000 against a mere $211,000 in the bank, Jim Harlan has over $550,000 in the bank. Some of y'all may point out that Jim has $500,000 in debts, but that's debt to himself. I don't think he's going have angry vendors clamoring to get paid like Scalise will start dealing with soon.

Second, Harlan has just put up a spiffy new website. Go take a look. And he's just released another ad defining who he is:

I'm started to get pumped up and ready to go!

Very impressive. (0.00 / 1)
I hope he wins... certainly has my vote.

But he needs much more than your vote, Kjun ... (0.00 / 1)
If all you do is vote, you get a "D" in democracy.  Volunteering, phone banking, putting up signs, talking to your neighbors and friends, dragging your neighbors and friends to the polls will get you an "A" ... according to Howard Dean, anyway!

Ryan, you persuasive widdle devil. (0.00 / 0)
Ok..I'll take a half-dozen Harlan signs to start.... (I can find that many anti-Scalise voters, for sure)... and I know just who to call.... Remember- Scaleaze lives in my neighborhood...LOL.. I'm tempted to put my Obama sticker on his Recycling Bin (how childish- I know)

I have one to give you if you want ... (0.00 / 0)
It's a YES WE CAN sticker.  I would have someone standing out there when he or his lovely wife find it, and photograph it, and make a helluva lotta hay out of it all.

Lovely wife?...or adulterer? (0.00 / 0)
You said, "when he or his lovely wife "... there ya go-- cracking me up again.....

Who Jennifer Schill Scalise?...whose husband was overseas fighting for our country-- while she was running around with Stevie?.. Hmm.. very lovely indeed.  It's called Adultery.

I don't know. (0.00 / 1)
I happily voted for Gilda Reed, but I don't know about this guy. I'll give him a chance as the campaign progresses to fill out his platform and I hope that my misgivings are wrong. It's just that issues like choice are important to me.

Both candidates are "pro-life."  You'll need to find something else to vote on in this specific race.   If you sit it out, then you've got no right to complain about your Member of Congress.

Look at the alternative. (0.00 / 0)
Gosh, I'm definitely pro-choice... I hate it when a "man" thinks he has a right to say anything about the issue... (And, Zorak- I voted for Gilda Reed too.. LA.01 was asleep when she ran)

However, Steve Scaleaze is the other choice... and that makes my stomach turn. He's not a leader... And the sneaky, cowardly things he did in the last campaign... Even the who's who in the GOP aren't fond of him.. (they owed him a big favor, that's all)..But- we have to get him OUT.

Maybe Harlan will get more Bible thumpers to vote for him.

When he gets to the run-off... we have to get Harlan's promise NOT to interere with Roe vs. Wade... because, I'm with you Zorak.

Hey, Ryan, you're cracking me up with the "Yes We Can" sticker.....LOL... don't tempt me.. You'll be my accomplice.

It's hard to campaign for a campaign you can't find (0.00 / 1)
Kjun and I have been over this topic before. Sure, campaign web site. Standard form to sign up to volunteer. I finally got the campaign manager's number by coaxing it out of another campaign manager after driving over to that campaign's office.

I saw Harlan's ad broadcast for the first time tonight in the late night slot. Looks frikkin' incredible. That numbnuts Scalise is in some serious trouble, and he deserves it for all his mindless partyline bull.

It's my understanding ... (0.00 / 0)
that they're getting an office in Covington, and are looking for one in Metairie or Kenner.  Don't worry ... you'll be able to find them soon enough.
